So Alaska is having a real winter for a change, long extended periods of sub zero temps, and it sounds like most of the rest of the Country is having their fair share of cold weather also.

But yesterday, in western Washington, I was hiking at 5000' elevation with my shirt off, it was balmy and warm.
Two weeks ago we had about four feet of snow at 4000' which is pretty typical, then it nearly all melted. No end in sight of this warm weather, at least for the next 10 days.

Here in MN we are about to get a taste of "real" winter again. -26 to -28 air temperature plus windchill. We have very little snow so this is going to be hard on water lines and septic systems.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Haven't had any rain here for two weeks. First frost didn't come until after Christmas...yep, pretty bizarre weather.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Real winter in Alaska for a change is laughable, for me. Brutal involving tons of $ with additional snow removal and property loss.

I do long for the idea of leaving the weather challenges behind. But, being the sick lil’ monkey that I am, can’t justify leaving it behind.

“Brutal” weather depends on where you live. In south Arkansas, They are calling for zero degree temps as far south as the Louisiana border with up to two inches of ice with additional snow fall. Power outages will be almost a sure thing. Frozen and broken pipes. This will destroy a lot of property and wouldnt doubt a few folks die. This area of the country is not prepared for this.

Not much snow here but temps have been a roller coaster from sub zero to 40s and right back down.
Wind has been something else too. Lots of days with gusts over 50mph.
It’s mid 30s today then Friday the high will be single digits and wind chill temps at -20 to -30 and like that all weekend.

Been colder then normal here in mid Ohio but then again what's normal anymore. Next week and a half nothing above freezing being called for. Plowed more snow so far this year then the last 2 years put together but at least nothing real deep. Mother nature sure is a strange lady.

This upcoming storm doesn't look good for some of you folks in the south. Hopefully it won't be that bad or last that long!

Fixing to stock up on gas for the generator and groceries for the possible nasty weather coming.

No snow or cold. The inland northwest will burn up this summer.

The last 90 days have been some of the most inconsistent weather I think I’ve ever seen.

-30 to 70 above! (Well almost, 68). Rain and snow and rain and snow and rain and snow.

Dirt trappings been pretty miserable.

We're having a colder winter than the last several years, but we used to get very cold winters....cold enough to freeze the bays and you'd cut 12-16" salt ice holes to clam through....and we would regularly get regular snow storms with deep lasting snow....that hasn't happened for a long time....so even though it's changed for the worse, it's still not as bad as it can be..

It’s was 40 ish here up to a few days ago now it’s going to be 0 ish for a while. Haven’t even hit the main wood pile yet I’ve been working off of the secondary pile and topped that off the other day. We might finish off the year without touching the main stack so I’m ahead for once on wood. LOL
