Has anyone had experience with the Chevrolet 2.7 in a Silverado?

Not a fan of little turboed engines, there is no replacement for displacement.

GUK.....it's the sound they make when they hit the end of the cable

I'd avoid any turbo engine.
1) added complications and potential issues not possible in a N/A engine
2) added cost
3) higher stresses on engine=lower engine longevity.

only reason turbos are a thing is epa gas mileage requirements

If you're only driving it till the warranty expires, go nuts. Otherwise it's a no for me.

How many have some serious experience with turbos? Daily drivers & track? You’ll only hear about the problems and negativity from guys that never really used them……. Technology has come a long way in the last 5-10 years. Nobody brags about the ones that keep rolling. If you do proper maintenance, it’ll out last the body & drivetrain.
Turbos are way under utilized and they're just starting to figure it out now. I certainly wouldn’t do much pulling with a small one,
One thing for sure, do not wait until your vehicle tells you to do an oil change. I do one every 4000 miles.

My dad has one, never had an issue with it. 150,000 miles on it so far, he doesn’t do a bunch of pulling but he’ll pull an 18 foot boat and a fish house with it. Been very reliable

For the displacement guys, do a search on GM's 6.2L V8's and let me know how the displacement thing is going when it comes to mechanical issues......they recalled 600,000 of them.....

The 2.7 is the best gas engine you can get in a GM pickup right now.

The V8's are plagued with problems.

Gotta live up to the nickname...

Right now are the important words. I'd take an '01 to '05 5.3 or 6.0 any day of the week over any of today's engines.
