Ordered these Wednesday as soon as Duke got them in, they were delivered today. $299.88 to the door for a dozen. Got a couple out to mess with tonight and I have to say I’m super impressed.

Love the spring steel style “tensioned” safeties. They aren’t quite as stiff as Belisle safeties but they work great. Got them into the tuning contraption and from the factory they come with the same amount of travel as a Belisle. 2” of travel with a pretty crisp fire. I like mine at less than 1”. Couple swipes with a file and they are right where I want them.

Springs are insanely strong just like the regular Duke 330 magnums. Pretty nice that they come with a factory cable for tie off too instead of no cable or chain like a Belisle. Pretty much 10” exactly inside the rivets for horizontal jaw spread. 10-1/4” inside the jaws vertically when unset. Overall I am very impressed and plan to get them in the water soon!

Looks like a cheap knockoff of a belisle.

I kinda like that angle on the dog. From looking at the pictures, it looks like it puts the trigger inside the trap instead of on the outside like the belisle tends to

No problem I hear that company steals designs from a lot of companys that develop their own stuff.

When Bill showed them to me I was really impressed, I am going to order some to test. Bill is really good to trappers from beginners to old folks.

Feel better now? Never mind, I don't really care. Truth is it is the trapper that makes the trap perform, not the other way around. I still have some 330 Victors that my Dad used in the 70's, they still kill beaver with boring repeatable results if you make good sets. Beslisles are overpriced.

If they come with overpowered springs like the regular Dukes I'll probably do a hard pass.

Jesus, Noah, your hands look like they're 100 years old. Use some hand cream or something, they're a runner up for Vinke's toes. grin

Thanks for the review. Got all the Belisles I need for the moment in that size, but if I need more, I'll give the Duke's a try....

if for no other reason than to upset Boco.

I agree with BOCO. They look nearly identical to Beslisle. And agree with Stephen about over-powered springs on newer Duke traps.

Just doing what I want now.

News flash, the intent is a direct copy of the Belisle.

Wonder if those jaws can take those strong springs?

Belisle 330s jaws can't handle the spring strength....get bowed out with nearly every catch.

While patients do only last so long, depending on what they are a patient for, I'm pretty sure you meant patent.

Yes most Dukes are a knockoff copy of other brand traps that are cheaper produced and cheaper priced. Everybody knows this, they fill a large market niche and to my knowledge Bill Duke has never had a patent violation. He makes no real bones about making cheaper imitations, hence the whole Duke 550/650 naming scheme, he wanted people to know what they were getting an imitation of. Some people want the top quality original and are willing to pay for it, some want the budget version.

They do make a few original traps, usually where he sees a need for a reasonably priced trap in the market.

Duke springs are nuclear powered these days. I got some 330's before this season that I can't even begin to set by hand, and I normally don't struggle regardless of the brand

I like duke traps, use lots of them, and they really support trapping, I never had any trouble with their traps, that I didn't have with other brands

I wish 330's were legal here at fence crawl unders and cat cubbies. Body grips have to be used with a little caution even 220's. IMO most trappers are aware of that. Seems to me like on private property it would not be a problem. I have a friend who use belisles exclusively for beaver and otter. Has caught and held several otter by the tail. Looks like that new duke could do it too.

Have not run a straight coon line in awhile but duke 1.5's have worked great for me. Have some old duke 330's. They don't owe me anything either. If you are upset by knock offs I would be interested in buying your bolt action rifles. At a discount. Unless of course they are made by mauser. You would want to keep those.

Impressive trap and as I learned on here and on trap shed is it doesn’t matter what others think if you like it and you pay for it good for you and if you sell it and are happy with it than good for you I’m happy you got new traps but can tell some are either jelious or too tight to spend money but congrats on your purchase

It’s that time of year lol. We have been laying a lot of brick and that sucks the moisture out of your hands even worse than the cold weather. My wife keeps me a healthy supply of the working hands stuff and a couple others but it doesn’t help much. We laid about 9,000 brick today, that takes out moisture faster than you can put it in

CD2,
Keep us informed whether the jaws bend too easily with a catch.

I know all we have to do is lay em on a log and tap em back straight, but maybe Duke has used some stronger steel.

And don't forget that dog. It allows full closure on rat tails also.

What was the cost before shipping on a dozen?
Found them $299.
I don’t get it. They’re more money? I paid just over $400 CAD for a dozen Belisles from the FHA warehouse in Winnipeg. The new Belisles come with the anchor cable which I cut off right away.

Again, this is not Canada. We don’t get your Belisles for that price down here.

A dozen Belisles costs $380 USD down here or $550 Canada pesos

A dozen Duke supermags costs right under $300 usd delivered

That's a huge price difference. I'd hate to see what a Savageue goes for!

Good looking trap. Id probably try a few if Belisle and sav ever go out of business. Duke are made in Korea though. I thought more of youse wouldve wanted to buy Made in USA products.

You should do a little research...maybe include an Asian nation in the search...

Ryan, the Bridger traps were made in Taiwan when we bought the company in 2010 and they are still made there today. Made by the same family and in the same facilities as Northwoods traps were made back in the 1980's.

Thanks Tim! Google is pretty crazy. Depending on how you word the question, it’ll say Bridgers made in the US, tweak it a bit and it changes to Taiwan.

MJM-how is Canada hosing you on Belisle traps? I don't get where you came up with that at all. They charge the same price per dozen for either vendor-Canadian or American-what a dumb comment. It's maybe a tariff that the U.S.A. has on goods made abroad? If Belisle 330's are $400 / dozen Canadian-thats about what U.S.A. money? Say they cost vendors $280 canadian/dozen-that's about $ 200 U.S.A money. If the trap supply companies order 50 dozen and send them by truck-say it adds even $20 dozen-HOW IS CANADA HOSING YOU? the vendors have to make something as well

Unreal

I bought my first Belisle 330's somewhere around 2001...from Cumberlands. Paid $180 a dozen.

I have a big pile of them and I think the most I paid was $240. I'm glad I invested in them when I did.

I have to admit, if I needed more, I'd probably have to give the Dukes a try simply because of the price.

In my opinion the 330 dukes are over powered.

I'll have ot get my hands on one so I'll withhold judgement but I was hoping they wouldn't put their spring on the super magnum. 80 dollars a dozen difference isn't a deal breaker for me if I believe one is better than the other.

Most likely I'll spend the extra 80 dollars or go with the Bridgers. In my opinion they are superior to the dukes.

I received 2 last night, springs are stronger than the ones on duke 330 mags. Safteys are a little long in my opinion had to use my knee and hands to get super mags to set.

Good deal!

Forgive my ignorance, we don't have beaver, never trapped beaver, or even seen a beaver, but....if regular dukes are strong and work fine, what is the advantage of the supers?, aside from the safeties.

Full closure of the jaws, they'll hold mink and muskrat that are caught by the tail. Regular dukes have a larger gap between the jaws when closed.

In addition to what K Snow said, The spring NOT being able to go around the corners of the trap is a great feature as well. Other traps they get around the corner, the dog even gets through the eye sometimes, just takes longer to straighten them out. When you put together all the handy added features and the extra fur they will catch, to me, they are worth the added expense. YMMV

Another catch with the Supermags today. Nice male otter and another great example of why you should tune your 330’s. No “Belisle bend” this go round, that big female beaver musta had an extra hard head grin

No doubt these traps have been providing quick, clean kills. I am impressed

I got my hands on one today and IMHO they are over powered. Quite a bit more than the Belisle's. The safeties are a tad too long also IMHO.

At 6.50 a trap more I'll stick with the Canadian made product for now. It's peanuts in the long run.

I certainly hope not !

Duke already had the strongest springs in the industry.

There were a couple folks in this thread asking what the advantage of this style trap is over a regular 330. Here is a good example.

I think this otter tried to hop over my dive stick instead of diving under. The Duke supermag held him right there by both shoulders and he was DOA.

Also, lost my setters today and had to take that otter out by hand. It is possible to set those traps by hand but it’s not something I’d want to do every day.

X2 I'll add some 220's to my trap collection. All bodygrippers are just copies of conibears with a few modifications, same for tube type DP's are all copies of the Lil Griz.

I think Bill sent a belile to his factory to copy. It's an exact copy. And much cheaper. They say it closes so tight it could hold a beaver by the toenail.

I Should probably look at the 220's when they come out,

maybe it will change my mind some. But I'll stick with my Belisle 330's and keep using Belisles to make my 660's

Completely closing jaws (feet and tail caught critters still there when u get there.)

Belisle type safeties (much safer than the floppy safeties.)

Spring eyes cannot go over jaw corners (some otters will escape a 330 if that happens.)

What do you recommend? I hear the RTS setters are the best!

I have 2 RTS setters, one for a spare. Not as fast as a scissors type setter but anyone can set a 330 using one. Highly recommended.

Are the RTS setters made the same as the orange setters? I just looked at the ad and they appear to be black. I HAD an orange setter that looks similar. I really liked it but the metal was junk and it broke while setting a BMI 330 a couple weeks ago. If the RTS setter is heavy duty metal I would buy one but if it is made out of the same metal I'm not interested in throwing away my money again. I had to go back to the scissor types which are difficult to use with a torn rotator cuff.

No, the RTS SETTER is not at all like the old orange knock offs. It’s built from a much heavier frame and better gear ratio as well as other features that none of the knock offs had. It also hooks on spring arms rather than eyes so less strokes to compress springs.

You can click MTP at the top of the page and look it over. If you do buy one, from anywhere, my # and email is right on the setter. If you have any trouble, just get ahold of me direct and I’ll take care of it but I’m sure you’ll love it.

That is the kind of customer service that made me choose RTS when I was looking for a great gambrel to accompany the skinning machines I use to sell. You'll be happy with the setters Computer Hater. Accept no imitations, get the original RTS brand.

I know some guys get the leather type deal goes on belt with the steel ring for hammer and use it for the setter. Never seen an actual holster before. Good idea JK.

That is a heck of a deal on the Supermags. I'll have to order a few dozen more.

I'm all done for the season but the supermags killed everything that swam through them. Had one otter so stone dead he never moved my support sticks.

I will be buying more! These are all supermag catches
