The best nail I ever used were horseshoe nails. They are tapered rectangle shape. They are very easy on boards, drive easy and can be pulled by hand. They are not cheap.

I pinned a few out with electrical staples this season and really liked it. Still drive them with a hammer but they allow you to raise the pelt off the board if you desire. Pull super easy. It takes half the time as driving nails
Gotta live up to the nickname...

Only took me a season or two of trying to hold onto greasy nails and hitting my fingers before I switched to a stapler. Had the same problem and switched to a brad nailer. Much faster and better for my thumb.
More and more when I go anywhere I find myself keeping track of where the nearest rest room is.

I tried staples once and immediately hated it. Especially taking beaver off boards.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

For all the staple haters...try these. Best of both worlds between nails and the little staples. Only have to drive one of these staples with a hammer for every 2 nails. Easy to pull, much faster than nails, and you won't miss any like you can with the little staples I hate them things,,,,,they made them for right handers…….

Peavy Mart was closing down some stores here, (bankruptcy) and boxes 15 pounds were 5$ Can, 3 different lengths.....dang they are closed for good now Why did you not say earlier and I could have got you 10 boxes

I started using them in the early 1980's when I worked as a skinner.

Guys! It's not only the nails. It's the hammer. Use a hammer with a serrated head and hitting your finger will be a thing of the past. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/04/full-27775-255077-img_6617.jpg) What is the best beaver boarding hammer

Well if they are still open today, I'll pick you up several boxes MJM. Of course there will be a double tariff duty, with this steel of a steal deal. At that price I would take some. Up to five 15 pound boxes. I know a couple other guys that would take some.

We use to call them sex toys as if you hit your finger you where "screwed"!
