Put a screw with a big head on it under the point of the beam if you have a thicker one to hook the lip onto then move to the leg holes add more screws further under the beam to help her hold the pelts in place if needed.

Sage, here is my block. 6” long, 3” wide, 1.25” thick. I used maple. Cut the hole with a jigsaw.

I can hold any pelt in any position

You may see some marks on the hide when your done fleshing, they go away when it dries. I think I might have smoothed the edges of the block inside the hole and outside.
