Never been one to follow auctions. Big estate sale in a couple weeks not far away. Not sure how any of this works. Supposed to be a list coming out soon.

Here on long guns there's no transfer or background check, bid and walk away with it.

If you've never been to a sa!e, you're going to be surprised how high some items go for, and how cheap some go for.

ask the auction company
they have an FFL or they have one they work with.

make sure you know if they charge a background check fee or if you pay the commission on the sale to the auction company or if it comes out of what you bid

Looks like a lot of stuff in that auction. I bet there's a bunch of things that will sell cheap, but it won't be the guns. They go real high at all the auctions I've been to in the last few years. Years ago there were bargains to be had, but with the internet advertising too many get the word.

I've bought one gun at an estate sale, ever. And I used to go to a lot of them. Guns almost always go way over value at those auctions. But I did pick up a centenial edition Ruger Service six, stainless 357 one time for a decent price. Decide ahead of time what you are willing to pay for anything at the auction, and then stick with it. That way you won't get sucked in to the bidding wars. I've got some screaming deals at times (bought a big 220 table saw and a 220 stick welder with 50 foot leads at one for $5 apiece one time. Another time I bought 5 beer kegs for $15 bucks and hauled them down to Albertsons and got $50 apiece for them) but other times you will be absolutely flabbergasted at the prices some stuff goes for.

I went to an auction many years ago that the County Sherriff's office put on. They were selling guns that were left over from crime investigations that weren't claimed, and some that were rescued after being thrown in the river. Some in really bad shape. I couldn't believe what people were paying for those things! The same auction had bicycles that were really rough that people just had to have.

I quit going to any auction to buy guns due to they would seek used for new or higher than new prices. So was a wast of time for me.

A hand full of years back dad wanted to go to an estate sale that had a bunch of guns. I went to buy some of the farm equipment. When ths guns went up 2 I had wanted for years but not bad enough to pay what they bring hit the block and I ended uo buying a marlin pre safty jm stamped 357 and a marlin 39a for less tahn the 357 was bringing at the time.

It was a very nice surprise but the first time I got a deal on guns at an auction.

Here the company works with a FFL holder to facilitate the transfer

I work part time for an auction company and when we have sports related items including guns . the guns go through a ffl dealer for pick up and transfer . You also pay a commission to the auction company

Find out the order that things will be sold. You mite be in for a long day. With that much junk/stuff they mite sell in two different rings. Good luck if you go. By the way, how's your are doing?

I bought a rem 788 6mm for $225 about 25 years ago at a gun auction.. it’s still my favorite rifle of all time.. I honestly don’t think anyone there knew what a 6mm was..

I'm surprised Texas and Missouri (red states) make you go through an FFL dealer for rifles.

Read the terms and conditions of the sale at the top. This isn't an auction sale. It is a 4 day estate sale.

My advice is bring along a folding camp chair just in case the auction runs long and a letter of credit from you're bank just in case you pay with a personal check and check on how much the buyer's premium is on any and all winning bid items so there's no surprises later .

As other's have mentioned have a predetermined amount that you're willing to spend on a item and have fun ! For me I enjoy seeing the sometimes odd and different tools that are offered at sales , and wanted out they become addicting and a great place to see friends and sometimes make new ones .

In Missouri we don't. Bought around 15 rifles and few pistolas as well last 2 years at auctions in MO and never had FFL done. Figured it was me and a decent bunch of felons. No, seriously my son and I enjoy going and I just make sure nothing sells too cheap......one auction a years ago I brought home 9 long guns and a nice H&K pistol. Son enjoys picking up some older military rifles like 6.5 swede etc...
