NEW YORK (AP) — ABC will reinstate Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show in the wake of criticism over his comments about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, officials with the network said Monday.
“We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday,” said a statement from the network.

Sinclair, the affiliate that owns the bulk of the local stations, says that they will not air the show regardless of what ABC does.
Yep!
"Sinclair also calls upon Mr. Kimmel to issue a direct apology to the Kirk family. Furthermore, we ask Mr. Kimmel to make a meaningful personal donation to the Kirk family and Turning Point USA," the company stated. "Regardless of ABC’s plans for the future of the program, Sinclair intends not to return ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ to our air until we are confident that appropriate steps have been taken to uphold the standards expected of a national broadcast platform."

Who really cares? Nobody will be watching him, any sponsors will be wasting their money. Let them throw good money after bad and continue to dig their hole deeper.

His first show will have a larger audience wanting to hear what’s he has to say but then it will go back to being at the bottom of the tank especially since he, as of now, lost 68 markets from Sinclair and Nexstar.

Most his shows had lots of empty seats. They used that automated laughing system. I'm not saying that in a sarcastic way. His show was really dropping in ratings over the last ten years. Look it up if you don't believe me.

Brennan Carr is not a private employer. Read up on him and Kimmel.
I just read about Google and Biden. Clearly wrong.

But you know dang well that is not what happened. I also disagree with Carr's comments, and yes I've been reading about this all week. Carr did not cause the firing of Kimmel, Disney did. A private company chose to no longer air a television show they had been airing. THAT is the free market... and that is not covered by constitutional protection as you well know.

If you want to make this a constitutional issue, you can't make it based on what Carr/FCC threatens ABC regarding the licences. The argument to make is abolishing the FCC. Then again almost every regulatory agency should be abolished as most of them should not have any power to create there own rules . They should only be allowed to enforce laws passed by Congress, not assume the jobs of all three branches of the government.
Now that 2 major affiliates say they won’t carry the show and the shows not a money maker to begin with maybe just maybe capitalism will out do the constitution this time. Jimmys a liability no matter what he does a little fuse let it play out. I never watched him before and won’t start now even if it was the only thing on the tube.

And even edited and altered content. ..per order by the Biden Regime ..

Here is the monolouge from last night. You can watch it--it won't turn you libtard.
Kimmel says something that annoyed me about guns but was otherwise great on the 1A. Heck, Kimmel and I would probably disagree on most things. That's life--rationale people don't always agree on everything. They can still coexist and I can laugh when he says something funny.

Unlike you and your pals, I don't swear allegiance to any man. There is no "deal" to break. Kimmel is a comedian. His entire purpose (at least for me) is to occasionally entertain. Although, this.last week.he also stood up for the 1A.

I really do not understand how a lawyer can believe that a private company's decision regarding whether or not to air a program can be considered a violation of first amendment rights.
In previous posts he referenced Carr, chair of the FCC as though the FCC had made the decision to pull the show. But, that is not what happened.

BC, you are hypocrite. You constantly admonish anyone in the current administration when something positive is reported by countering with Trump, Bondi, etal. is soft on the 2nd. It's been your go to and end all argument since I can remember. Yet, you're only annoyed by Kimmel being anti 2nd, but otherwise it's ok to agree to disagree and we all get along?

I watched maybe a half dozen man show episodes. Seen one seen em all. Was entertaining for the first few. Then repetition bored me. I rarely watch TV and had no interest in his talk show. Never watched one.
Freedom of speech and press are real important. Worth fighting for.
Like my original post I still dont think government shut it down. Trump has a bad habit of running off at the mouth. Its the New York city native in him is my opinion.
My GUESS is in spite of the show losing money his fans made a big enough stink the financiers were afraid of a bigger money bleed. Probably hoping all this attention will increase viewership. Which it probably will.

I understand how someone who has never ran a business or advised a business is missing the pretty obvious point. Let me explain.
If a government official threatens to do something, even if just implied, to a private business, it affects decision making and behavior at that private business.
The threat may be lawful or unlawful.
When talking about Kimmel and ABC, Carr made threats about licenses--among other things.
FCC licenses and other approvals are important to ABC and its affiliates.
Trump and Carr do not like Kimmel because he makes fun of Trump every night. Hence the threats.
Threats about licenses were made to affect the way ABC (or its affiliates) behave in regard to Kimmel.
The threats are a violation of the 1A because those threats could, and did, affect the behavior of ABC--it suspended Kimmel.
In suspending Kimmel, ABC did not violate the 1A. I never said it did.
It is not what I do, but I expect for the threats to be actionable, the FCC would have to actually take some action beyond Carr yapping on a podcast. Regardless, Carr still stepped all over the 1A with his comments. So did Trump with his comments.

"The COVID-19 pandemic was an unprecedented time in which online platforms had to reach decisions about how best to balance freedom of expression with responsibility, including responsibility with respect to the moderation of user-generated content that could result in real world harm.
Senior Biden Administration officials, including White House officials, conducted repeated and sustained outreach to Alphabet and pressed the Company regarding certain user-generated content related to the COVID-19 pandemic that did not violate its policies.
While the Company continued to develop and enforce its policies independently, Biden Administration officials continued to press the Company to remove non-violative user-generated content.
As online platforms, including Alphabet, grappled with these decisions, the Administration's officials, including President Biden, created a political atmosphere that sought to influence the actions of platforms based on their concerns regarding misinformation.
It is unacceptable and wrong when any government, including the Biden Administration, attempts to dictate how the Company moderates content, and the Company has consistently fought against those efforts on First Amendment grounds."

This is extreme ignorance or more likely unwillingness to ceed that Trump has overstepped his bounds (again) You can't simply ignore the fact that Carr threatened Disney ( we can do this the easy way or the hard way) There was/is two big mergers that needed FCC approval to happen. A reasonable person can conclude that since Kimmel was suspended after these comments that they played a role. But aside from that, Trump said he wants the FCC to investigate further when he learned Kimmel was coming back. That's pretty black and white. You'll all be crying in your cheerios when the next president uses theFCC to shut down conservative voices. Or maybe they'll be mature enough not to feel threatened by a comedian making a joke about them, we'll see. Now, the fact that some affiliates won't air Kimmel is fine, that is the free market making decisions that they feel will benefit their viewers best

So, PA and BC, if Disney was soooo intimidated by Carr's comments, then why did they reverse their decision?
Just to be clear... whether Disney pulled Kimmel or proceeded as normal has no bearing on the level of unconstitutional gov interference. The words were spoken... that's the problem. To answer your question... I can't read minds so I can't say for sure. But the fact that both sides of the aisle cried foul certainly gave Disney some assurance that any further interference by the FCC would be seen for what is was and put the government in a liable position to them. Essentially having republicans and democrats alike condemn Carrs words put him back on his heels. He's in an indefensible position. And I'm sure money played a role in that decision to some extent. Just my opinion however

One of the reasons we got the sub prime mortgage crisis was Clinton wt al threatening banks with investigation if they didnt give home loans to people that had no business borrowing 20 bucks let alone 200,000.
The difference between that and the FCC was that there was established rules that Kimmel was violating. The banks were just threatened with investigation just to be a nuisance.

Exactly what both ya have, but I don't need that as an argument...it's an obversation. Broadcast tv has always been censored, the point you overlooked,,,and threats have been made in the history of it when the FCC thinks what they broadcast is not good for the audience/nation....

I would call it the Chair of the FCC speaking out of turn. You do realize that the Carr cannot do anything alone, and that the FCC is a bipartisan agency, by law, right? That in order for them to do anything, the board must vote on it? So no... I do not believe that one person that has no legal authority speaking out is unconstitutional.
IMO there are far more concerning things going on currently than this!
